Jožef Stefan Institute

The Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI, http://ijs.si/) is the leading Slovenian institution for pure and applied research in natural sciences, life sciences and technology. At present, it employs about 1000 people and plays the role of a national institute, complementing the role of the universities and bridging the gap between science and applications. JSI’s research subjects concern production and control technologies, information, communication and knowledge technologies, biotechnologies, new materials, environmental technologies, nanotechnologies, and nuclear engineering.

The Computer Systems department (JSI-CS, http://cs.ijs.si/) employs researchers from different fields of Computer Science (design automation of computing structures and systems, concentrating on meta-heuristic optimisation approaches, intelligent data analysis and decision support).

The Department of Intelligent Systems (JSI-DIS, http://dis.ijs.si/) conducts research in the areas of computational intelligence, ambient intelligence, agent systems, natural language processing, and Web technologies.
